Resumo
A Doença Renal Crônica (DRC) em felinos constitui uma patologia de alta prevalência, configurando-se como um significativo desafio para a medicina veterinária, especialmente em relação ao seu impacto na qualidade de vida dos gatos afetados. O presente artigo possui como objetivo geral realizar uma revisão bibliográfica acerca da DRC em gatos, explorando suas causas, métodos de diagnóstico, abordagens de manejo e implicações clínicas. A elevação substancial da prevalência da DRC pode ser atribuída tanto ao aprimoramento na identificação da enfermidade quanto a um aumento real na sua incidência dentro da população felina. A metodologia empregada neste estudo consiste em uma revisão bibliográfica sistemática, na qual foram selecionados artigos científicos, revisões e diretrizes clínicas publicadas em periódicos de relevância tanto internacional quanto nacional na área da medicina veterinária. Os resultados obtidos ressaltam a importância do diagnóstico precoce e do manejo adequado na melhoria da qualidade de vida dos felinos acometidos pela DRC. Além disso, enfatiza-se a necessidade de promover a conscientização dos tutores acerca dessa condição, sendo estas ações passos cruciais para a plena compreensão da Doença Renal Crônica em gatos.

Abstract
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in felines constitutes a highly prevalent pathology, representing a significant challenge for veterinary medicine, particularly regarding its impact on the quality of life of affected cats. This article aims to provide a comprehensive literature review on CKD in cats, exploring its causes, diagnostic methods, management approaches, and clinical implications. The substantial increase in the prevalence of CKD can be attributed both to improved disease identification and a real increase in its incidence within the feline population. The methodology employed in this study consists of a systematic literature review, in which scientific articles, reviews, and clinical guidelines published in relevant international and national veterinary medicine journals were selected. The results underscore the importance of early diagnosis and proper management in improving the quality of life of felines suffering from CKD. Furthermore, it emphasizes the need to raise awareness among pet owners about this condition, as these actions are crucial steps toward a comprehensive understanding of Chronic Kidney Disease in cats.
