Este ensaio analisa os desafios críticos da transição energética em um contexto global onde a redução das emissões de gases de efeito estufa é imperativa para atender às metas climáticas internacionais. O texto é dividido em seis partes, incluindo, além de uma introdução, os fundamentos da transição e da importância da energia limpa nesse contexto, as condições das matrizes elétricas, a importância dos certificados de energia para comprovação dos predicados positivos dessas matrizes e os desafios implantados do Mecanismo de Ajuste de Fronteira de Carbono da União Europeia, além da conclusão. O exame dessas políticas no contexto da transição indica a necessidade de estratégias multilaterais para uma mudança eficaz, num processo em que o Brasil pode ter um papel estratégico. Além de evidenciar o diferencial brasileiro, este estudo contribui para o campo ao oferecer uma análise detalhada das implicações políticas e econômicas das iniciativas tratadas e sugerir caminhos metodológicos para avaliar sua eficácia em diferentes contextos nacionais.

This essay analyzes the critical challenges of the energy transition in a global context where the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is imperative to meet international climate goals. The text is divided into six parts, including, in addition to an introduction, the fundamentals of the transition and the importance of clean energy in this context, the conditions of electricity matrices, the importance of energy certificates to prove the positive attributes of these matrices, the challenges implemented by the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, and the conclusion. The examination of these policies in the context of the transition indicates the need for multilateral strategies for effective change, in a process where Brazil can play a strategic role. In addition to highlighting Brazil’s differential, this study contributes to the field by offering a detailed analysis of the political and economic implications of the initiatives discussed and suggesting methodological approaches to evaluate their effectiveness in different national contexts.
