A presente nota descreve a incidência do huanglongbing (HLB) e seu inseto vetor em pomares de citros e sua distribuição em Cuba, desde o seu primeiro relato no país, em 2006. O patógeno é detectado mediante oligonucleotídeos específicos para a espécie Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, enquanto testes realizados com oligonucleotídeos específicos para as demais espécies (Ca. L. americanus e Ca. L. africanus) não apresentam resultados positivos. Além da descrição dos sintomas das plantas contaminadas, citam-se a presença do inseto vetor e de inimigos naturais identificados no país.

This note reports on the incidence of huanglongbing (HLB) and its insect vector in citrus orchards as well as their distribution in Cuba, since its first detection, in 2006. The pathogen is detected by using specific primers designed for the species Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, however no positive results were found using specific primers for Ca. L. americanus and Ca. L. africanus so far. Besides the description of the main symptoms of HLB in contaminated citrus plants, the natural enemies and its insect vector found in the country are cited as well.
