Este artigo é o resultado do trabalho desenvolvido por alguns alunos de graduação na disciplina de Psicologia do Trabalho. Ao adotar a metodologia de estudo de caso, nesse artigo foi analisado o acidente industrial de Seveso. O objetivo foi compreender como os fatores humanos e organizacionais foram pontos cruciais para tal acontecimento. O intuito é de evidenciar o contexto da forma em que o acidente ocorreu e suas falhas técnicas, como contribuição para um melhor entendimento em relação à prevenção e à adoção de medidas em situações emergenciais de modo a minimizar as consequências e prevenir que acidentes futuros aconteçam. Conclui-se que, o erro humano não ocorre por apenas um erro de uma só pessoa, mas sim é a junção de diversos problemas que se vão acumulando até ao culminar do acidente. Nesse sentido não é possível culpar o trabalhador que pode ter efetivamente feito um erro, precisando ir além disso e buscando quais foram também as falhas organizacionais que podem ser consideradas as causas raízes do acidente.

This article is the result of work developed by some undergraduate students in the discipline of Work Psychology. By adopting the case study methodology, this article analyzed the industrial accident in Seveso. The objective was to understand how human and organizational factors were crucial points for such an event. The aim is to highlight the context of the way in which the accident occurred and its technical failures, as a contribution to a better understanding in relation to prevention and the adoption of measures in emergency situations in order to minimize the consequences and prevent future accidents from happening. It is concluded that human error does not occur as a result of a single person's error, but rather is the combination of several problems that accumulate until the accident culminates. In this sense, it is not possible to blame the worker who may have actually made a mistake, needing to go beyond that and look for the organizational failures that can be considered the root causes of the accident.
