It is with great sorrow that we heard about the passing of Dr. Gastão Fernandes Duval Neto, on April 16, 2024.

An internationally recognized anesthesiologist and two times president of the Brazilian Society of Anesthesiology (SBA), Dr. Gastão was an active member of BJAN's Editorial Board for many years.

At this moment of sadness and dismay, we share the pain for this loss with his family, friends, and colleagues.
