Trata-se de discurso proferido na sessão de abertura do 2º Seminário de Saúde da Criança e Adolescente e 1º Encontro de Grupos de Pesquisa dessa área, que tem por objetivo dar as boas vindas aos participantes do evento e apresentar as dimensões do cuidar e do pesquisar como desafios a produção do conhecimento em enfermagem em saúde da criança e adolescente. A necessidade de formação de grupos de pesquisa interinstitucionais e a divulgação do conhecimento gerado pelos distintos grupos institucionais mobilizaram dez instituições assistenciais e de ensino a promover ambas as reuniões científicas.

This is a speech done at the opening session of the 2nd. Seminar about the Child's and the Teenager's Health and of the 1st. Meeting of Research Groups in this field, in which I aim at welcoming those who participate in this event and at presenting the dimensions of caring and doing research as challenges to the production of nursing knowledge about the child's and the teenager's health. The need to form research groups and the divulgement of knowledge generated by different institutional groups led ten assistance e educational institutions to do the scientific meeting.
