Pelas dificuldades verbalizadas por pesquisadores na elaboração de trabalhos científicos delimitou-se o objeto de estudo "relações entre orientador(a) e orientando(a) quanto a: prazer/sofrimento, saber/poder e troca/imposição durante a orientação de pesquisa." Análise Institucional (LOURAU, 1996), implicações dos pesquisadores (BARBIER, 1985) e Abordagem Sócio-Poética (GAUTHIER e SANTOS, 1996) foram referenciais metódicos do estudo. Aplicaram-se Entrevistas e Vivência de Lugares Sócio-Míticos num Grupo de 31 docentes e discentes de pós-graduação "stricto-sensu" em enfermagem, no Rio de Janeiro, de 1995 a 1997. Verificou-se que relações sociais se sobrepõem às epistemológicas visando titulações acadêmicas, promoção profissional e prestígio social. A contribuição ao conhecimento científico objetiva segurança e independência. Saber / poder revela-se em troca de saberes. Sofrimento / prazer é assumir só o lado da RAZÃO. Concluiu-se que a orientação de pesquisa deve ser uma relação de saber e aprender compartilhada entre os pesquisadores.

Considering the difficulties verbalized by researchers while elaborating scientific papers, the object of this study was restricted to the "relations between research supervisor and graduate student concerning pleasure/suffering, knowledge/power and interchange/ imposition during research orientation". Institutional Analysis (LOURAU, 1996), Researchers' Involvements (BARBIER, 1985) and Social and Poetical Approach (GAUTHIER and SANTOS, 1996) were methodological references of study. Experience of social and mythical places were conveyed and interviews were applied to a group of 31 teachers and graduate nursing students in Rio de Janeiro, from 1995 to 1997. Verification reavealed that social relations superpose epistemological relations where academic titles, professional promotion and social prestige are concerned. The contribution to scientific knowledge aims at security and independence. Knowledge/power turns out to Be an interchage of each other's knowledge, while pleasure/suffering considers only the reason's side. Conclusion pointed out that research orientation must be a shared relation of knowledge and learning.
